Nautika Drummond, LMSW

I am a Licensed Master of Social Work and currently pursuing my Clinical Social Work license. My experiences, both personally and professionally, brought me a deep understanding of the ways in which trauma plays out and impacts the trajectory of so many of our lives. I have lived and worked in both Bridgeport, CT and New Haven, CT. My prior experiences include working with and in shelters, justice Impacted re-entry programs and youth programs. Within all of my prior experience, there has been a clear theme of trauma and PTSD.

I have serve  individuals dealing with:

  • Depression (Intense Sadness)
  • Anxiety (Excessive worries)
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Personality disorders
  • ADHD
  • Domestic violence (abuse)
  • Self-Esteem issues and Low Confidence

I believe that my approach to treatment creates an open space to be yourself fully. One of the most integral and transformational pieces in my own ongoing process of healing my trauma and mental health has been having a therapist who looked like me, understood things without explanation, and who could easily validate my experiences. What drives me most is wanting to support people in my communities, and communities similar to mine, in finding their own way toward healing.

My main therapeutic styles include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral therapy (DBT) through a trauma-informed lens. DBT has provided myself and so many of my clients the tools needed to find ways to heal from previous negative experiences, find new ways to cope with everyday stressors, and become more connected with themselves and aligned with who they hope to be. I believe fully in a holistic approach to treatment, meaning that my focus is not only on our minds, but also our body. One of the best ways we can take care of ourselves mentally is through exercise, mind-body connection, and proper nutrition. I have studied, practiced, and taught mindfulness meditation and am in the process of obtaining certification as a health & wellness coach.

The journey to wellness is not always an easy one to start. I hope to not only be a part of your journey, but to also allow you to feel comfortable and supported throughout
